VA Claims and Benefits Inefficiency
Have you been tuned in to the recent Veterans Affairs benefits controversy? The reality of it is something we experience on our end every day, as we help elders submit claims for veterans benefits.
We’ve seen claims that take a tremendous amount of time to process—sometimes from nine months to a year or more. This is a travesty that reeks of inefficiency.
The Inefficiency
As an example, several years back, the administration chose several regional offices that it wanted you to submit claims to, and it would route those claims back to the local office. You would fax a physical copy, and they would then scan it to send it to a physical location. They wouldn’t let you send an email! Talk about inefficiency!
We have a good track record at Morton Law of minimizing claim times to the greatest extent possible. We also help veterans or their surviving spouses apply for the Aid and Attendance Pension benefit.
While we can’t change the system, I do want to emphasize how much our veterans deserve reasonable claim-processing times, in addition to a high quality of care. We see enough veterans at Morton Law to know that they should have better, and we’re committed to doing our part!
